Have you ever wondered how it is that some people can awaken from a night’s sleep “glowing” opposed to “rumpled”? Well, it seems that a centuries old secret is responsible for this phenomenon.
The finest Egyptian Cotton with the highest thread count known to (wo)man cannot provide the aesthetic benefits of a simple silk pillowcase. Making this one little change can help prevent facial lines and specifically, that lovely mark running from eyebrow to chin if you are a side sleeper! It will also do wonders for that frightening hair most of us sport right out of bed. The principal is simple and universal, less resistance equals smoother results!
I’ve tried this myself for the past several months and would have to say that it does work. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wake up looking like Heather Locklear on her best day (or her worst for that matter) but, it’s made a huge difference in the morning fright level at our house!
If you haven’t already done so, check out the site DailyCandy.com on the web. It’s a fabulous find for all kinds of information, especially if you need info on a specific city or metro area. You can subscribe and get updates on what’s happening, where to shop, where to dine and even “what” to eat after you’ve determined the “where”! This is a real bonus if you’ll be traveling to an unfamiliar city or lots of fun and a great way to stay connected to a place if you’re moving away. Tips for what to do on your next vacation or even the extra time you might have on that next “business” trip!
I will never offer a Hip Tip that I myself have not tried and liked. Now that’s not to say that each tip will work for every person but you can be confident that each one has been tried and found to have merit before being posted to The Glammy Grammy. I say that because this next one seemed a little goofy to me but I did try it and here we go…..
Too little sleep, too many tears or too much to drink last night and now you have puffy eyes? If you’ll cut about a ¼ “ thick slice of cold (been in the fridge kind of cold) raw potato to each eye and leave for 5 to 10 minutes, you can see a significant reduction in the puffiness.
The first time I heard this I thought, hmmm, sounds like something that would be worth a try, anything to help with puffiness or dark circles, right? What I didn’t factor in was that if I moved my head during this application period, the potato slices would fall off.
So, for your next Hip Tip, get yourself one of those little stretchy t-shirt type fabric headbands. Put the headband around your neck, position the potato slices where you want them then just pull the headband up to cover the slices. Now lie back and relax, the potato slices will stay right there until you decide to get up. At that time, splash your face with cool water, apply your makeup or even just moisturizer and you’re good to go!
I’d love to hear from you if you try this Hip Tip!! GG
Finding yourself without a conditioner (rinse out or leave in) after shampooing can present a problem, a tangled, mangled mess. I know this because it happened to me this week! The texture of my hair is really fine and I color it on a regular basis so conditioner isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.
We’ve been traveling all week and I remembered to bring shampoo but not the conditioner. Yes, the hotel had conditioner but I didn’t like the smell so I chose not to use it. Thinking it might be a little easier to comb after it dried, I went to work answering e-mail and before I knew it my hair was dry. Much to my surprise, combing the hair after it dried rather than before was much easier, almost pain-free and a bonus……I didn’t lose a handful as I normally do when combing while wet, even with a conditioner!
Tonight’s HIP TIP is this….In most cases I’m sure it’s better to have conditioner. If however, you find yourself without it, let your hair dry before combing. You may just find that it’s much easier to handle!!
