I have a favorite pair of pumps, red with black heels….if shoes were a meal, these would be dessert! Good News, fabulous shoes don’t have to hurt!!! Very little is more uncomfortable than shoes that pinch or rub a blister on your foot. I usually carry at least one extra pair of shoes with me at all times…. I discovered this on one of the rare occasions when I was NOT carrying a spare pair.
A small sample size of baby powder can be a life (or foot) saver. Sprinkle into the shoe and shake around so the inside is covered in powder and then sprinkle lightly on your foot. Not so much that it’s visible, just what fits inside the shoe. Gently put the shoe on and make sure the powder is distributed to all important areas. Feels like putting your foot into a satin pillow slip and that uncomfortable shoe, well it’s no longer a problem. An added bonus is that your feet won’t perspire like they may be prone to do, especially in the summer.
Go into any grocery store (most discount stores too) and you’ll always, always find what seems to be a staple in the American diet…..Chips and Salsa! I know, not really American in origin, is it? Well, American or not, they have to be close in popularity ranking to the Hamburger, Hotdog and Pizza, also not American in origin.
There’s certainly nothing “glammy” about chips and salsa, in fact if we aren’t careful they could take us the other way entirely as they’re often not all that healthy. In spite of that, they have always been a staple in my diet! Buying a large bag of chips and the accompanying jar of salsa at a supermarket guarantees that I’ll have access to this treat for several days…...not a good idea. Instead, I go to a local restaurant that happens to have great chips and home made salsa and get an order to go. I get a large carryout bag of chips and 2 containers of salsa for $1.99. That’s less than the chips alone cost in the supermarket. I have FRESH CHIPS and FRESH SALSA for a less than half of what I could have spent and here’s the healthy (read glammy) part….. no preservatives, fewer and smaller servings!! Oh, and the money saved…. that gets hidden away for a rainy day treat for Grammy and her little ones!
Look out Carrie Bradshaw I’ve got shoe news that you (yes, even you) may not be aware of. Is there a woman out there who doesn’t carry an extra pair of shoes with her when she leaves the house in those great looking pumps or boots? I’ve personally been known to carry a couple extra pair and, when traveling… well, I sometimes devote an entire suitcase to shoes, MY shoes!
These are absolutely the best thing to happen to women’s feet since the Italians began making shoes! You not only get a comfy pair of slippers to put on at any time or place, the tiny little pouch they come in magically transforms into a bag to carry the pair you’re taking off! Win, Win, and Win! Really, be sure to take a look, you won’t be sorry and Spare Soles and I may even become your new best friend!
Here’s a HOT Hip Tip for those times your eyelash curler isn’t quite getting the job done. Just grab your blow dryer, set it on low to medium depending on the heat level of your dryer, flip it on and aim at the piece of the lash curler designed to fit over your lashes for about 20 to 30 seconds. Make sure the metal part that rests on your cheek isn’t too hot and then apply to lashes as you normally would. Voila, beautifully curled lashes. This works much better than either of the two different brands of heated lash curlers I’ve tried and with no concerns about having to replace the little battery. A dear friend shared this with me and as usual, she’s right on target! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
