Whether you’re moving into a rental that maybe wasn’t cared for as well as you would have or maybe you’ve bought an older home to renovate or to “fluff and flip”, you’ve undoubtedly run into dirty, stained grout. Well, you’re gonna LOVE this next Hip Tip!
Mix one cup of Hydrogen Peroxide with 2 TBLS of Baking Soda and you’ve got yourself one mean cleaner! Use a tooth brush or a similar brush that is size appropriate for the grouted area you’re cleaning. Just dip your brush into the mixture and go after that stain.
It’s hard to believe that with all the commercial products on the market and the money consumers spend trying to keep tile/grout clean and sanitary that the answer is something we all already have and it works so much better than anything I’ve ever bought at the store. I think I may try using it on other areas too. I would caution you though to try it on a small, tucked away area before using it in a highly visible spot. Happy Cleaning!
From time to time I’ll run across someone who tells me that putting raw egg in your hair can make it “salon product” shiny without taking the time out of your busy schedule to actually visit the salon. I’ll admit it; I was skeptical but for the sake of busy Glammy Grammy’s everywhere, decided to give it a try!
When I make scrambled eggs, I do it at a 3 whites to 1 yolk ratio. As luck would have it, those two egg yolks that I’ve previously tossed down the disposal are just what I needed to try this Hip Tip. Here’s how you do this…..Massage two beaten egg yolks into wet hair. Start at the scalp and work in small sections. Then gather all of the hair in a shower cap, wrap a warm towel around the shower cap (I took mine from the clothes dryer and a thin towel seemed easier to work with) and secure (I used a chip clip). Now you need to wait 25 to 30 minutes which is the perfect “you” time for reading, thinking, listening to music, etc. Now, when the “waiting” is over just rinse with cool water and shampoo as usual.
I didn’t use my normal conditioner after shampooing; as my hair is really fine so I used the leave–in spray as I always do. If you have thick hair or a lot of hair, you may want the standard conditioner as well….you may also need another egg yolk!! Let me know what you think, GG
Every woman has a favorite piece of “fun” jewelry and for some of us, that piece may have belonged to our very own Grammy before coming to us. It’s not uncommon for this “fun” piece to be missing a stone or be chipped or damaged in some way.
Here’s a quick fix…..drum roll please………….. Your handy dandy bottle of Nail Polish! This is such a great tip because nail polish comes in absolutely every color now. From platinum to black, white and every shade of every color in the rainbow! If your piece is missing a stone, simply choose a polish the same color as the base metal then dab the polish where the stone was. It may look so good that you won’t even miss the stone! Hard to believe I know but it’s true, I’ve seen it done. Since discovering this little tip I find myself looking at nail polish displays in a whole different light! And, speaking of light, I just did a quick touch up to a scuff on a lamp with my little bottle of magic!!
I had the pleasure of being the house guest of a very charming friend recently. Our business meeting had run late, it was a two and a half hour drive back home, I was tired and she bribed me (wasn’t too difficult) with what she said was a pretty good fruit salad for breakfast! So here’s a Hip Tip for a really great fruit salad!!
Pretty good I guess! That was quite possibly the best fruit salad I’ve had in years. The fruit seemed pretty normal, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, orange slices, kiwi and raspberries but only if they’re firm….can’t have mushy raspberries! Sprinkle with a little Splenda and then, her secret weapon…..a little bit of Bouchant Orange Liquor. Make this up the night before and toss gently with the Splenda and Bouchant or, just a touch of orange juice if you prefer. Your guests may never leave and if there are leftovers after breakfast, it makes a fabulous topping for ice cream!
